Who Parked The Car’s latest single may be titled, ‘Can’t Get Over You’ but it's me who’s having a hard time getting over Who Parked The Car. The sound that ruptured from this powerhouse of an octet is genre-defining. The jazz/pop/soul/funk blend that lends its dulcet tones and melodies to big names like Snarky Puppy or Steely Dan is distilled and refreshed, rebottled and turned into something perfect. The multi-part vocals buzz with harmonic power, and the guitars and bass ride waves of jazz together, bursting through the copper clouds rising high above the cymbals and percussion to deliver frills and trills, adding colour and texture to an already outstanding piece of music. Add brass, strings, keys, all the trimmings, all played within an inch of perfection with love, passion and understanding of the craft and … wow. What we are left with is outstanding.

The song begins tame, it allows you time to get your footing in this jazzy world that Who Parked The Car call home. Then, just as it gets comfortable, wham-bam-offbeat-slam we’re into the thick of it. The hook is sublime, with enough push and pull to keep it catchy without making it too complicated while each member of the band gets their moment to shine. Each of these standout musicians is necessary for the sound delivered in, ‘Can’t Get Over You’. It is as funky as it comes and as tight as it gets. I still can’t get over it.
