Leeds-based rock project We Have Ghosts challenges media manipulation in their latest single, “Red Wall Colliers,” blending garage rock intensity with a message that resonates deeply.
We Have Ghosts Drop Thought-Provoking Rock Anthem “Red Wall Colliers”
November 8th, 2024 – We Have Ghosts, the Leeds-based rock project helmed by musician and vocalist Benjamin Mace-Crossley, has released their newest single, Red Wall Colliers. This track packs a punch both musically and thematically, diving deep into the world of media manipulation and propaganda. Combining aggressive, hard-hitting rock with a compelling message, We Have Ghosts continue to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with.
The Story Behind “Red Wall Colliers”
The idea for Red Wall Colliers stemmed from Ben’s growing awareness of how mainstream media often distorts narratives to serve its own agenda. “I’ve always known that stories are twisted to fit a particular perspective,” says Ben. “But as I’ve gotten older and more socially conscious, I’ve seen how severe and damaging this can be, especially when it comes to situations like Gaza or Ukraine. Those escaping conflict are vilified by far-right media groups, and this song speaks to the way these messages are warped and delivered to the general public.”
Recorded at Moorcroft Studios in Cleakheaton, West Yorkshire, the single was brought to life under the expert hand of studio owner Tom Fox, who handled the mixing and mastering. Ben himself played a significant role in shaping the production, arrangements, and overall sound of the track. “I wanted it to feel aggressive,” Ben explains. “It’s a reflection of the urgency and importance of the message.”

Fans of bands like Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and early punk rock will find plenty to love, but We Have Ghosts brings their own fresh perspective to the table.
What Makes This Release Significant
The track stands out not just for its musicality but for its social commentary. In today’s era of information overload and disinformation, Red Wall Colliers serves as a reminder of how easily perceptions can be manipulated. We Have Ghosts invites listeners to think critically and consider the source of the information they consume. It’s a call to awareness wrapped in powerful, relentless rock.
Looking Ahead: The Debut EP
While Red Wall Colliers has already made waves on streaming platforms, We Have Ghosts are gearing up for more. Ben is in the midst of finalizing the debut EP, slated for release early next year. The project promises more of the same thought-provoking themes and raw sound that fans have come to expect, but with even greater depth and complexity.
