NUMBER 1
THABO COURTNEY - April 23
Miami, FL, United States
I have to start this week's chart off by saying that this first submission is one of THE BEST if not THE BEST videos to come through to my platform. THABO COURTNEY has already made it into our Hip-Hop, Rap & R&B Chart this week with "April 23" but the video takes what I believed to already be a solid track to a whole other level...the rooftop. In this video, listeners are guided through the process of a rooftop proposal joined by family, friends AND vocals from the man himself, THABO COURTNEY as well as a rap verse from the groom-to-be. If there's one thing I love in a visual, it is a clear and meaningful story! This may very well make you cry or watch Cinderella, maybe even both? Incredible! and if you like a bit of Usher, then continue watching after the main track has finished!
NUMBER 2
TRAP PAP - Counter That (Ft SPL Haiti)
Baltimore, United States
Next, up this week is the video for "Counter That" by TRAP PAP x SPL Haiti. After coming in at Number 1 in this week's Hip-Hop, Rap & R&B I was super excited to discover that there is a video for the piece! Full of slow-motion camera tricks and community spirit, this video provides the perfect visual for a perfect track! This simple but full-of-life video creates a visual that allows for the song itself to shine through whilst sticking to an underground, street vibe. I love this video, it has a way about it that doesn't overpower the audio content. Definitely, one to watch!
NUMBER 3
GLYTSH - SAV@GE
London, United Kingdom
"Hell is empty and all the devils are here!" is a phrase that captured me when being presented with this next submission. GLYTSH consist of two female musicians who are fresh out of London's music scene. The duo love to mix their love for metal with dark, haunting soundscapes. This is something that really shows in their latest music video! Here we are given a mix of animation and urban punk influences within the video of SAV@GE to portray these two distinct sounds. There were so many positive and unique skills showcased in this submission that causes me to put it in at Number 1 this week!
NUMBER 4
ALLUSIA - Party Rhino
Los Angeles, United States
Make way for ALLUSIA because there is no room for anyone other than the artist and their dancers! (maybe we can try the moves in the background). If you are looking for something sassy and fun to lighten your day then look no further, ALLUSIA has got you! "Party Rhino" is one of those songs that will stick in your mind whether or not you like it! This means one thing... ALLUSIA holds a certain power. The video will have you moving along and looking for more. You certainly won't forget it! Click the video above and get moving, you know you want to!
NUMBER 5
BREON S.Y.N.D.E.L – Aquarius
Brooklyn, United States
Brooklyn-based BREON S.Y.N.D.E.L is a regular over at TJPL NEWS because I always find myself drawn to his creativity.. In fact, I have just learnt that we are both Virgos, I guess that explains it! Coming in at Number 5 this week is his video for "Aquarius". In this video we see the artist stand alone in a large dark room with nothing but his mic for company whilst reminiscing on sex flashbacks with the Aquarius lovers to whom he usually finds himself romantically attracted to. Not the ideal standard match and one of the rarest star signs but don't worry, there are plenty more fish in the sea..maybe try a Pisces? This song definitely gives the artist something to think and write about as well as us viewers!
NUMBER 6
DEETTA JAIN - The Twist To The Glitch
Denver, United States
Next in our Top 10 this week is the video for "The Twist To The Glitch" from Denver-based artist DEETTA JAIN. This is one hell of a video. Rarely deviating from the three dominant colours Red, Black and White give the visual a devilish tint. In fact, the whole feel of the video is something of a psychedelic confusion. From dream states to the darker side of love, this is a video that explores a lot leaving your imagination wild and free. Midway through the video, we're taken into the paranormal through whispers and frequency sound waves before doing a circle back into the main body of the song.
NUMBER 7
VINCE CHINASKI – Opportunities
Copenhagen, Denmark
VINCE CHINA SKI blesses us with another video release this week. Fresh out today comes the video for "Opportunities". The Danish star brings viewers a whole lot of calming indie rock against a home video style music video. The video contains images of the ocean and all things associated with water, from leaves in puddles to meanders of rivers and beyond. The simplicity of this visual allows for viewers to take the essence of the song and visualise it in the most raw way. As the video progresses we're given something new to focus on from fireworks to Dance Classes, home meals and car headlights. This is a real deep production.
NUMBER 8
AJAY MATHUR - Talking Loud
Lucerne, Switzerland
AJAY MATHUR impressed Tamara Jenna with his latest album #TalkingLoud (tjplnews.com) back in July, and now he's back with the video for his release. "Talking Loud" (The Video) introduces us to a whole load of cartoons, animation and real-life imagery within three minutes and twenty seconds. The song is so catchy but the video is symbolic of creative freedom that offers all the oldest parts of your mind to roam free. If I could sum this video up in one word it would be BONKERS! Check it out, you'll love it believe me!
NUMBER 9
PINI GURFIL - Call It Art
Haifa, Israel
Call It Art is an acoustic rock-folk duet with tenor vocal lines that mirror hypnotic tendencies that are found in ambient music. Interesting right?! Their latest release "Call It Art" is a nostalgic song that pays homage to music creation and acts as a tribute to the way in which music can transform thoughts, minds, hopes and emotions. The video for this piece is a simple one that is set in a Live Lounge style setting which allows listeners to see the emotion of the artists whilst they perform their craft without the need for extravagant camera tricks of visuals. This is a raw song with a raw video. Perfect.
NUMBER 10
SID SETH - Simple Yet True
New York, United States
SID SETH brings something simple yet true through his latest release. The track itself is accompanied by an uplifting and ethereal vibe within the lyric video. The main beat of the song keeps the overall production energetic and happy. The artist describes his song as "a feel-good song filled with nostalgia, warmth and reminiscence of home." If acoustic guitar and a meditative visual are your thing then you're in for a stream with this one. This is a beautifully crafted production.
