Berlin’s groove-charged trio channel first love and rock ’n’ roll chaos in a high-octane track mixing Chili Peppers energy with Stones swagger and Chuck Berry soul.

Speaking Is A Gun crank the amps to full joy with their first full-on rock ’n’ roll single, “Nothing Ever Tasted So Good”, released on 7 April 2025. It's an unfiltered celebration of first love, explosive chemistry, and sensory overload—served hot from their Berlin-based studio and mixed by Leonard Vaessen.

At its core, Nothing Ever Tasted So Good is a collision of styles: think Red Hot Chili Peppers groove, Rolling Stones swagger, and a hint of Chuck Berry’s old-school fire. The song thrives on a breakbeat-driven rhythm section, laid down by bassist Max Prieß and drummer Damian Baran, while frontman Florian Begenau spits rapid-fire lyrics that toe the line between spoken-word rap and rock poetry.

The track’s energy is visceral and playful. “Rain never tasted so good. Your hair tasted so good — YOU never tasted so good,” roars Florian, blurring metaphor and sensation into a lyrical high. That heightened state reflects the track’s core theme: the intoxicating rush of new infatuation, where even intangible emotions like "hiding" or "faith" feel delicious.

Recorded in a live session at Rockhaus, the track’s chaotic spirit was amped up by inviting friends to a mini party during recording. Their laughter, shouts, and unscripted chatter bleed into the mix, adding a layer of euphoric realism that makes the song pop with raw intimacy. A vintage 1972 Marshall 100 Lead amp added authentic bite to the guitar tones, grounding the track in classic rock textures.

Nothing Ever Tasted So Good is fearless, flamboyant, and alive with lust and life. It's indie rock without pretension—just sweaty, wild fun from a band that knows how to taste the moment.
