REVIEW

Minneapolis-based 5-man band #Hyooman has released their awaited album entitled #Pilot. This 10-track montage presents the key sounds of 90s rock, pop-rock, and more! The band themselves define their genre as Alternative/Indie Rock. So, let's get into this review! #Pilot opens with the track #Discourse. This piece has a really cool laid back feel to it. 90s surfer rock comes to mind. There are many catchy synths in this that add something pop to an otherwise rock track. Twangy guitar solos add something of a break in between vocals to really get you immersed in the piece. #Kid continues the synth-rock theme with dreamy key synths and laid-back guitar strums. The vocals have a lovely feel, they sound natural and heartfelt adding to the feel of the instrumentation. #MudWater is a piece that has a sprinkle of twee in its main melody. The band keeps to their own dream shoegaze feel here. #SoProud has more of an emo rock vibe going on in its opening. This feel is created by the sad guitar loops and elongated vocals. Again, there are some really nice solos from the lead guitar here. #IFeelFine has some real power in its opening. The track opens in full production before stripping down in the verses. #MonthEnd is a piece that opens slightly differently from the rest before sweeping us into something nostalgic in feel. I really enjoyed this one. #Don'tWannaBe reminds me of Bowling For Soup in vocal performance yet more acoustic in productive elements. This is a great addition to the album. #InABadWay caught my attention - it was the uniqueness of the drum arrangement that specifically stood out to me here. #NoAccountability takes you back to that Bowling For Soup vibe just in time for the end of the album. Closing the album is #Sometimes. This closing piece is the longest on the album at 4 minutes 26 seconds. The lyrics here get stuck in your mind along with the melodic pop synths and steady guitar strums. This is a really chilled-out album - I'll definitely be listening to this on the nights that I travel - it has that long journey in the dark vibe - Not a depressing vibe, rather instead it has a mindful, in-the-moment reflection in the dark whilst smiling vibe. This album showcases a consistent and enticing sound! 10/10! Make sure that you check it out by clicking the link below, and don't forget to keep an eye out for #Hyooman in the near future.
