ARTIST BACKGROUND
Over The Moon is the second studio album that has been produced, written, recorded, and mixed completely by Leman. Over The Moon blends multiple genres to create a fresh take on Pop music. From ambient atmospheres with layered vocals to intense rock screams, the album encompasses my versatility as a vocalist and producer. Tamara Jenna caught up with Leman in an exclusive TJPL NEWS interview but first let's go track by track through this album!
OVER THE MOON
REVIEW
Over The Moon by Leman is a 14-track album that hints at dark pop meets rock screamo and more. Being the artist that I am, I connected with this artist's story quite quickly from the opening track. Speaking of which, 'Drive' brings demons to the surface. Those demons that make you want to run away and hide from everything around you. This artist implements a dark vocal tone along with the dark pop feel in the instrumentation. 'Brighter Days' lifts the mood through the use of dreamy synths, RnB vocal chops, and an infusion of melodic synths. I love the feel of this piece, it keeps the dark narrative but offers a dream too. 'Cold Blooded Killer' takes us into hell, not sonically but metaphorically. The feel of this track is so deep that I had to add it to the Tamara Jenna's Top Picks playlist. Packed with heavy bass, 80s synths, and haunting strings in a gothic statement. There's a complete flip in the second half of the piece that completely throws you into another dimension through the use of electro-rap. 'Alive' continues this gothic and cinematic feel. Opening with the sound of thunder and rain I couldn't help but feel overly emotional listening to this one. It's one of those pieces that if you've ever been depressed or lost, you will absolutely feel every word in a way that haunts you. 'Lost My Mind' brings something just as haunting to the album. "Tie me up, throw away the key" there's a feeling of self-destruction and self-loathing in this one. "I always knew I was doomed, my mama made me this way" - Both key lyrics that stood out to me in this one. A heavy rock feel takes this whole production up several notches. It feels like there are three distinct elements and stories in the same production. ABSOLUTELY SMASHED IT. 'Here In The Dark' offers a sweet addition to act as a midpoint in the album. Track 7 entitled 'Lonely Streets' brings dream pop/trapsoul RnB to the front of its inspiration. I love the heartbeat feel of the kick and the basic yet haunting vocal layers. 'Overgrown' brings a haunting melodic loop followed by sweeping darkness - The hip-hop flow on this one shook me, I felt it! It offers another side to Leman that we hadn't yet seen on this project. 'Left 4 Dead' brings acoustic piano to the front of its opening with subtle but effective bass notes. Autotuned vocal chops sweep you off your feet before this artist comes in to sing his demons. 'Enraptured' offers something slightly more happy in tone in the beginning but don't be fooled, this song slowly takes us into an exorcism of demons, a conjuring of emotions and a freedom from paralysis. 'I'm Not Perfect' offers some gritty guitar strums along with an accompanying piano melody before switching into acoustic guitar before continuing the cycle, I love this move, it works well! 'Shadows' offers something experimental in production to add something completely new to the feel of the overall production without losing its gothic feel. 'Drift Away' startled me in awe, I don't think I have any words right now other than that I have goosebumps. Ending the album is the title track 'Over The Moon' something that offers acoustic guitar and heartfelt confessions. I absolutely love this artist and I am honoured to have been asked to do this piece because it has meant that I have now found something extremely precious in a world that doesn't always understand. I absolutely felt every single note of this album. I can't begin to tell you how much. Make sure that you click the link below to get familiar with Leman, he is an artist that deserves some love.
