I Panic's "Laughing, Talking, Loving" – A Nostalgic Blend of Emotion and Rock

Updated: Dec 14, 2023

Why are the simplest things so hard? - An address via single by I Panic

I Panic's new single "Laughing, Talking, Loving," was released on December 1, 2023. As a piece that beautifully encapsulates the essence of art rock and classic rock, reminiscent of the greats like Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, and David Bowie, I Panic adds his own unique, theatrical twist to the genre without forgetting the golden era gone.

This song tells the story of a distant love, two lovers separated by distance, longing for the simplicity of being together – walking hand in hand, falling asleep on the couch. It's a narrative many can relate to whilst offering an upbeat backdrop and easily graspable lyrics.

The arrangement is classic rock at its finest: drums, bass guitar (played by I Panic for the first time), piano, electric guitars, and a Hammond organ. The song dynamically alternates between relaxed verses and energetic choruses. It works well, and creates a mood that is intriguing for the listener without losing the lyrical importance.

"Laughing, Talking, Loving" achieves the rare feat of being both uplifting yet sad in the same beat. I Panic's attempt to blend these emotions results in a song that lifts the spirits while tugging at the heartstrings, a testament to the band's artistic prowess.

Highly relatable, upbeat yet sad, this is a song that will grab you right in the core of your emotions whilst making you feel better about your feelings at the same time. This production has been brilliantly crafted. I still have the question though - Why are the simple things so hard? Anybody? I guess that'll remain some of life's most wondered phenomenon for a little while longer - but, for now, let's contemplate the question against a wicked foundation - click the link below and see what you think!
