Hyporadar's self-produced EP Frankie & Estelle brings a unique narrative-driven approach to alternative rock, inspired by real-life cabbie tales.

Hyporadar, a one-man band from a town with no music scene, proves that isolation breeds innovation with the release of his self-produced concept EP, Frankie & Estelle. Inspired by the book Hey Cabbie by Thaddeus Logan, the EP weaves together a story of connection and struggle, told from two different perspectives—that of Frankie Sullivan, a cab driver, and Estelle, a local waitress.

Recorded entirely in his basement studio, Hyporadar meticulously layered each instrument himself, crafting an authentic, raw, and immersive sound. The EP draws heavily from '90s alternative rock, garage rock, and lo-fi aesthetics, combining melodic guitar riffs, driving basslines, and introspective lyrics that paint a vivid sonic landscape.

A Rock EP Built on Storytelling

Hyporadar has always wanted to create a concept-driven piece of music, and Frankie & Estelle is the culmination of that ambition. The title tracks, "Frankie Sullivan" and "Estelle," tell the same story from two unique points of view, showcasing his ability to blend narrative depth with compelling instrumentation.

“After reading Hey Cabbie, I was inspired to create my own fictional version of a cab driver’s life. One song led to another, and soon, I had an entire EP shaped around their intertwined stories.” – Hyporadar

The contrast between the two perspectives is what makes this project unique. Frankie’s story feels gritty and detached, while Estelle’s song is more melancholic and introspective, reflecting two sides of the same experience.

The Recording Process: A Solo Endeavor

Unlike traditional band recordings, Hyporadar played every instrument himself, often tracking multiple instruments in a single day.

“One day, I’d record drums for two songs, then the next day, I’d do bass for three. It was an intense process, but I wanted to get everything exactly how I heard it in my head.” – Hyporadar

Despite being self-produced, the sound is crisp, layered, and emotionally compelling, marking a technical and artistic leap from his previous releases.

A Landmark Release for Hyporadar

While Hyporadar has previously released music, he considers Frankie & Estelle to be his most accomplished work yet, both musically and narratively.

With gritty storytelling, raw production, and a nostalgic rock influence, Frankie & Estelle cements Hyporadar as an artist to watch in the underground rock scene.
