A Timeless 70s-Inspired Christmas Classic from Derbyshire’s Own HorthWorld
On November 29th, 2024, HorthWorld unveiled their original single, Merry Christmas (Make Amends), a vibrant holiday anthem that pays homage to the golden era of 70s Christmas hits. With influences from iconic acts like Wizzard, Slade, The Darkness, and ELO, this festive track captures the essence of holiday togetherness with rock guitars, a brass band, and choir harmonies.
Fronted by Andrew Horth, HorthWorld’s latest release is a celebration of community and tradition. The song was recorded at RatCat Studios in Sandiacre, Derbyshire, with additional contributions from the Melbourne Town Band and Vocal Zone Voice Studio Ensemble. The brass arrangement, crafted by Simon Nobbs, and choir harmonies, led by Adam Hepkin, add layers of warmth and nostalgia to this feel-good track.
A Christmas Song with Meaning
Inspired by the enduring appeal of classic Christmas anthems, Andrew set out to create a song that embodies both the festive spirit and heartfelt messages.
“All the elements had to be there—sleigh bells, rock guitars, a brass band, and a choir,” Andrew shares. “The song is about cherishing the time we have with loved ones, especially during this special season.”
The track’s recording process was uniquely communal, with the brass band captured using five microphones to replicate the natural sound of a live performance. The choir’s contributions were recorded in various setups, from full ensemble takes to individual soprano, alto, tenor, and bass vocal layers.
