Drawing from childhood memories on the rails, the Tilburg-based duo create an emotionally rich track that mirrors the slow rhythm of a train and the long distance between a father and son.

Netherlands-based duo Disdarken, comprised of Nick Carmine and Alin V. Niculae, are set to release their haunting new single “Far From Home” on 24 April 2025. This moving track takes the listener on a slow, rhythmic journey through memory, childhood, and the emotional chasm between a father and son.

Formed during the Covid era through online collaboration, Disdarken originally crafted music for stock libraries—but their darker, more emotive material found a new life in this project. Far From Home stands as a centrepiece of their upcoming debut album Keep The Dark Inside, due in Summer 2025.

The song's inspiration is deeply personal. “It’s about the distance between a child and a parent,” says Carmine, reflecting on his early years spent riding trains conducted by his father. That rhythmic nostalgia permeates every layer of the track: the beat itself was constructed atop a real recording of that very train, giving Far From Home an unmistakable authenticity.

Musically, the track leans into alternative rock, dark wave, and subtle industrial textures. It's slow, melodic, and emotionally weighty—described by the duo as “the ballad” of the upcoming album. The lyrics navigate physical and emotional absence with poetic clarity, capturing the kind of grief that slowly shapes you.

“This song is for anyone who’s ever felt distant from someone they’re supposed to be close to,” says Alin. The moody production and atmospheric layering underscore that sentiment, turning personal experience into something deeply universal.

Far From Home isn’t just a song—it’s a slow-burning reflection that rides the rails of memory and melancholy, destined to resonate with listeners seeking emotional depth in their music.
